Han In Japan

I moved to Tokyo. Read about it here.

Please enjoy this series of haiku that I have written about the famed sakura season:

The trees are in bloom.
The flowers are delicate.
The park is crowded.

Let’s have a picnic,
sit beneath the flowers and
share food together.

Friends meet in the park
laughing and sitting on tarps
with shoes off, of course.

Being outside is
enchanting and beautiful
during this season.

We traverse the park
slowly with faces turned up,
staring at the trees.

Everyone slows down,
but no one seems to mind it.
Beauty is fleeting.

Trees will be green soon,
the petals leaving as fast
as they arrived here.

The petals come off
trees and float down like feathers,
light and delicate.

Blooms make their descent.
Treetop heights to dots on cars,
pretty, just the same.

Even a dumpster
can be a beautiful sight
when gilded with blooms.
